GateChex (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the GateChex Chrome extension and website (the “Service”).  This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use GateChex, including data retrieved via Amazon’s Selling Partner API (“SP-API”) and our limited integration with Keepa.

## 1. Information We Collect

### 1.1 Amazon Data  

- **ASINs** (product identifiers)  

- **Marketplace Participations** (which marketplaces, categories, and product types you’re approved for)  

- **Listing Restrictions** (brand or ASIN gating status)  

> _All Amazon Data is retrieved only via the Amazon Selling Partner API under your explicit OAuth 2.0 authorization._

### 1.2 Other Information  

- **Usage Data:** Browser and extension usage logs (e.g., pages visited, features used).  

- **Technical Data:** Browser type/version, operating system, IP address (anonymized), and session timestamps.  

- **Optional Analytics:** We may use anonymous analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to understand feature adoption and improve performance.

## 2. How We Use Your Information

- **Determine Gating Status:** We use your Amazon Data in real time to check your eligibility (“Gated,” “Apply Now,” or “Clear to List”) and display results in your active browser session.  

- **Provide Core Features:** We process Usage and Technical Data to power extension workflows, detect errors, and optimize performance.  

- **Session-Only Processing:** All Amazon Data and OAuth tokens are used in-memory during your session and are **not** stored permanently.

## 3. Data Retention & Sharing

- **Retention:** Amazon Data and OAuth tokens are retained **only** for the duration of your active extension session. Once you close or refresh your browser, this data is discarded.  

- **No Sharing:** We do **not** share your Amazon Data or OAuth tokens with any third parties.  

- **Need-to-Know Basis:** Only team members and systems that require access to perform Service operations (e.g., API calls for gating checks) may view transient data, in strict accordance with Amazon’s SP-API Acceptable Use Policy.

## 4. Third-Party Services

### 4.1 Amazon SP-API  

- We are a **registered Amazon SP-API developer**.  

- All gating and eligibility checks call Amazon’s MarketplaceParticipations & ListingRestrictions endpoints via OAuth 2.0—**no** screen-scraping or HTML parsing.  

### 4.2 Keepa (Optional)  

- We integrate with Keepa **only** to fetch ASINs for optional price-history charts.  

- Keepa is **not** used to determine your gating status or eligibility.

### 4.3 Analytics & Hosting  

- We may use Google Analytics for aggregate usage patterns.  

- The Service is hosted on secure, industry-standard cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS).

## 5. Data Protection & Security

- **Encryption:** All OAuth tokens and API calls are encrypted in transit using TLS.  

- **Token Handling:** OAuth tokens are never stored long-term—only kept in memory while your session is active.  

- **Throttling & Integrity:** We respect SP-API throttling quotas and perform data-integrity checks on every call.  

- **Access Controls:** Only authorized personnel with a need-to-know may access our backend systems.

## 6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

- We use browser cookies and localStorage to maintain your session state.  

- You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but certain extension features may not function properly.

## 7. Children’s Privacy

GateChex is intended for use by adults and business users. We do **not** knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information to us, please contact us to have it removed.
